What is Bio Safety Level 2?
Bio Safety Level 2 or BSL 2 provides a protective barrier between what is inside the BSL environment and what is outside the BSL environment.
How does it protect the lab?
Converting the entry to the lab to a BSL 2 protocol creates a barrier between the finite number of lab staff any facility has and the rest of the hospital.
How is this solution built?
Scimedico builds the entry way out of modular materials - the unit is assembled and installed in 24 hours.
Does it require new utilities?
Scimedico BSL conversion requires a single electrical circuit, uses existing ventilation, and requires limited space at the exterior of the lab.
Does this limit access to the lab?
No, but any staff member entering the lab must go through the BSL 2 protocol before entering the lab.
What about specimen transfer?
Specimens are transferred through the specimen pass through window in order to limit traffic in the lab.
