Scimedico, LLC to Test Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Repair Serivces at CompuNet Clinical La

Updated: Mar 30, 2023

Scimedico, LLC is working to close the gap between preventive maintenance and post preventive maintenance repair and is testing this approach at CompuNet Clinical Laboratories in Moraine, Ohio.

"The bottom line is that this is about impacting the quality of care our customers are able to deliver to their patients. The ultimate purpose is to integrate predictive maintenance inot our preventive maintenance services. Our immediate objective is to accomplish 100% functionality of the equipment we manage by closing the gap between the time we conduct preventive maintenance and the time we complete post preventive maintenance repairs." explained Scimedico Chief Executive Miguel Bermeo.

Bermeo continued, "This may seem simple, but it is not. We are challenged by the availability of parts, the age of equipment, and lack of historical maintenance reporting on the equipment we service. Our goal is address each of these challenges in 2019 and achieve 100% functionality of customer equipment post service."

The Scimedico preventive maintenance process includes equipment inspection, testing, decontamination, and reporting. Preventive maintenance reports capture and document each of these categories and provide managers with relevant reporting. While the reporting identifies required post maintenance repairs, Scimedico is working to close the gap between the completion of preventive maintenance and completing required repairs while implementing increased quality control and higher service levels in 2019.

At CompuNet in Moraine Ohio, Scimedico is testing the combination of preventive maintenance and completing post preventive maintenance repairs during the same process. Scimedico will continue to test this process throughout the second quarter of 2019 with the goal of implementing a defined predictive maintenance procedure going into the second half o the year.

"Scimedico preventive maintenance services are centered on the "safety first" concept. Each facet of the "PM" process is designed to identify problems before they occur and provide end users and biomedical engineering team members with the data they need to allocate the resources to equipment functioning and staff safe," explained Scimedico Customer Service Manager Cheryl Broudhecker.

Scimedico Customer Service Manager Broudhecker continued, "Going into the second half of 2019, we will be advising customers, based on the type of equipment we are servicing, of predictive repair recommendations going into the preventive maintenance services. At the same time, we are working to inventory replacement parts, especially for older equipment, and decrease repair lead times so that we can maximize the preventive maintenance process."

Scimedico is preparing to launch its new Scimedico Customer Portal in an effort to increase the company's level of service, improve customer understanding of maintenance requirements, and provide customers with a repository of maintenance history.

Scimedico CEO Miguel Bermeo summed up the objective as follows: "Providing our customers with full access to the maintenance and testing history of their equipment will have an impact. There is no charge to out customers for access to the Scimedico Customer Portal. Our mission is to connect the safety, hygiene level, and overall function of our customer's equipment to the critical care, research, and outcomes they are delivering."
