Updated: Mar 30, 2023

The #C19 Response from Hong Kong to #covid19 offers key lessons to mitigation and management of #coronavirus in the United States and all of North America.

The infections and deaths from #covid19 is presently low and this is presently being accomplished without resorting to full economic shut down and social distancing with the extreme measure of staying exclusively at home.

Hong Kong has a population of 7.5 million residents and had had 1,026 confirmed cases of #Covid19 infection and only 4 deaths as of April 18, 2020. The Lancet published a study addressing the approach in Hong Kong, presenting data through March 31, 2020. The study finds that the quick reaction by Hong Kong to implement masks and social distancing combined with Hong Kong's experience with past Pandemics has made a significant different.

The Lancet examines a range of public health measures implemented to hold down transmission rates of #covid19. The Lancet study examines the effect of these steps and behavioral changes of the public on the spread of #covid19.
